How'd you kill them? They're pretty well sealed unless you sucked water into the intake past the filter. I got a twin that wasn't working well. Cleaned it up and swapped the relays and it fired right up.
Just being exposed killed my relays.
Remote mounted them, remote mounted the filters, and sealed the completely non-weather tight connections on the motor leads. That lasted until a short developed in the big flat waterproof connector. Cut that out on soldered the wires and all was good..... Until the bolt that holds the piston to the flywheel sheared. On both pumps. Just under 5 years of usage and it went in the dumpster.

Diehard Platinum AGM at Advance Auto is one of the cheapest and best AGM out there. Mounts in any orientation. Damn near vibration proof.

In my research on batteries I found that even deep cycle batteries should not be taken below 50% discharge. Cycle life drops dramatically with DoD.

North East road salt is a mother fucker on electronics (and everything else). I went to a CO2 tank and really haven't looked back, but I already had an AirGas account...

Focusing on AGM for my when I upgrade wiring and alternator 3G4R

Considering 2 brands right now: Deja vs Odyssey

Deja, made in Pennsylvania, 9A3585 is about $245 (Amazon) vs Odyssey AGM35 for $285 (lowest price I could find,.not Amazon)

I read a bunch of "reviews" online that suggest Deka makes Northstar, Napa Premium, Duralast Gold, etc. as well as a few AGM tests of various brands. Both of these two were towards the top of the batteries/brands tested. The only bad reviews I read about either brand were from idiots.

In the Group 35 size Odyssey claims slightly higher stats than Deka, but marginal.

ODB-AGM35

900 HCA

Size: 9.0625" x 6.875" x 8.875"

Deka 9A35 Intimidator
630 CCA
754 HCA
100 Reserve
Size: 9.563" x 6.75" x 7.75"

A slightly larger option, the Deka 9A34R AGM Intimidator (same price as 9A35) is listed as "Fits you shit" on several sites, the
750 CCA
860 CA
120 Reserve
Size: 10.75" x 6.875" x 8"

For $270 delivered the Deka 9A34R seems the best, most affordable, and a patriotic AGM battery choice. I think this is it.

I should have showed you the Northstar 27 when you were here yesterday. It's a big battery. If it's th same company probably can't go wrong though.

I ran the Deka intimidator AGM for a few years. Still have it actually but no idea if it is still good since the truck sat for the last 2 years almost. It treated me very well. I am happy with my purchase.

Done, son

Hope the 34R fits on the stupid factory plastic battery tray - I mean, it should, right?

Yeah the first two were dead at about 15 months. Not sure when the last one died because the rig sat for 6 months. Couple months ago there wasn't even enough power to unlock the doors. The Northstar I got is bigger and heavier but it has a better reserve AH for sitting around. I should really stick a solar trickle charger on it.
I was going to look at a small solar charger now that im moving battery to the bed.

Roof mounted flexible panel?
I had plans to do the same to deal with parasitic loss. Leave the truck at for a week and change and the battery would be dead.

They've got smaller ones that just act as a trickle charger vs a solar charger. I actually have leads off my starting battery that I can swap over to the solar charger but it's a pain in the ass and then I'd have to trickle charge the house battery. I'm sure there's a switch somewhere I could use I just haven't looked into it.

Wow. Cheap and easy.

Yeah think I'll grab one and see how it does. The Tacoma battery hasn't liked the sitting recently either so I've been driving it once a week to take the kid to school. Probably needs more freeway trips.

Yeah. I use a arb fridge and like idea of have some kind of charge if the trucks just sitting while camping.
Maybe add a disconnect switch to the battery if you leave it sitting a lot.
