Welp, found out what the noise in the front diff was:

Every time the busted spider made a rotation, the gear it was meshing with would get a little extra movement and make a racket. Surprisingly, the broken tooth migrated into some part of the housing that made almost no contact with anything. It was not on the magnet when I drained it, but it was stuck to it once I cracked the clam and did the inspection. Glad I'm putting in the ARB carrier and don't have to dick with the spiders. Also turns out my CVs were probably fine and I butchered them for nothing... But now I have the end stubs I can throw in the back in case I need to isolate the front diff from the wheels again. I got pretty lucky driving around as much as I did with that loose tooth traveling around the diff. Could've done a metric fuckton of damage.

I got the ring gear transferred over to the ARB carrier yesterday, and the driver side carrier bearing swapped and shimmed according to the book. I was planning on doing the other side today but I can't find gear oil around me for shit. Seems like we're back to random shortages for random stuff. I'll mess with it after work this week and see if I can get it together and sealed to install next weekend.

Completely unrelated, I found this thing for sale today. Never seen anything like it. Looks like a fire truck that had the back section removed. There's a t-case sticking up at 12 o'clock under the rear of the cab which I'm guessing drove the water pump for the hoses. If I had wads of cash laying around I'd pick it up and use it for a tow rig
