Picked this up from a dude in SD that's SAS swapping his 99 Limited. Aisin hubs assuming from first gen Taco, but on ABS spindles, will bolt right up to my truck.
PXL_20220628_022511800.MP.jpg

He was not able to remove the axles from the hubs and had hammered on the passenger side locking hub base, the nickel coated par that bolts to the hub.

I was able to use a brass drift and 3# sledge to knock the conical washers out using a nut on the studs.

Can I/should I replace the nickel base by itself? I can only find a complete replacement hub for $100.

Should I replace the manual hub gaskets and studs? They seem in good shape...

The CVs have nice silicone boots, but if I had to replace them would I look for CVs from a 95-00 Taco with Manual Hubs and No ABS (ring)?
Is TO-8029 by TrakMotive/Cardone is the parts store equivalent?

Bearings feel good, seals look good. I ordered spindle gussets and will be welding those on before installing. On the truck.

Welcome to the club. Use all new gaskets on the hubs. Tear em down, clean, grease them fresh...Don't lose the detent ball and spring. Yes any 95.5-00 Taco manual hub CV will work.

Studs and washers become your issue. You can get studs from toyota or any other aftermarket realm (marlin, Yota masters, etc). Know that they'll all be from landcrusiers no matter what the sales rep ( or toyota part number) says...THEY ARE ALL LANDCRUISER CONES. These cones are larger then Taco cones but they work so it isn't an issue.

Your studs are hard to find. If you have original studs I'd replace them so you don't snap em when wheeling. Most companies say they have studs for Tacos...they don't. They again have Landcruiser ones. In fact you can thank me for marlins site now saying there's don't work with Tacos haha.

I have included for your reference the side by side comparison of FJ studs vs Taco studs. Not only the lengths are different but the smooth mid body lengths are different. People will tell you that the FJ's work. Here's the deal...you'll need to disassemble the hub to try and get it to slide on to the studs and fuck around with a wrench getting nuts to tighten down and they won't make good contact due to long mid body. When you put the hub cap back on your studs will be right there touching it. Then you'll snap em all with any moderate wheeling and need to go through that hassle again...plus hassle of pulling snapped studs

I took my old OEM studs to Fastenal and had them make me some...it was pricey. But no one else had Taco equivalent studs. Lucky for you I've broken a few of those and needed to hunt for replacements again... ORS has them but not on their site. They were $2.50 a piece. Hit em up via email they'll get you straight.

LROR says they have ARP equivalents but these also look to be FJ ones to me so I haven't tested em. I was told it was a "stock image" not reflective of the actual studs listed for Tacos.

P.S. I have a stock pile of Asian hubs if you need parts you got my number.

It's going to take me some time to digest that awesome response! Thank you!

If you have a spare hub base, PN 43508-35050, and can spare a few studs for reference, I'll gladly order more and and reimburse you/replenish your stock.

Heads up on these. If you're planning to weld these on with spindles in tact then you risk overheating those bearings. It you wreck the bearings with heat from welding the spindle then you should know that you'll need a special tool to get the dent nut off. Also that bitch is torqued to something like 204 foot pounds so retorqueing after pressing out the damaged and pressing in the new is a bitch. Just means some extra down town potentially. Or you can plan to get the tool and new bearings and just pull the old ones weld and set the new. Then the whole setup is refreshed prior to install on the rig. Your call...

We plan to go really slow and take time welding them, I don't want to warp the spindles or wreck the bearings.
Jordan seemed to do okay welding with the bearings installed... https://www.toyota-4runner.org/3723941-post537.html

I sent an email to ORS regarding studs and cone washers. Mine are all in good shape for now but getting spares won't suck. They also have the bearing lock nut tool. Yeah, 210 lbs feet - I watched Timmy's video on the conversion and saw them use a spare tire to bolt the spindle to while opening and later torquing the lock nut.

@Dan H I'm also good for dick pics if your looking for a size comparison. You won't know if it's black or not till I send it.
Yota masters has stud kits and gaskets on their site. I sent them an email too asking if these will fit a 99 Taco

Hub Stud Kit FJ40 / FJ60 / FJ80 / Truck / 4Runner (Japan)

Genuine Toyota® Locking Hub Gaskets

They also have an arp stud set with nuts but no washers for $85

I'm going to say no on the stud kit. Those are land cruiser they will work on 2nd gen 4runners hubs that were similar if not the same as the cruisers. Taco hubs and wheel assembly are different. You can see in the image it has the longer mid body and longer thread side. The ones we use are shorter mid body and the length of the threaded sides are the same. I guess you could try cruiser on and cut down the longer threaded side. Although I'd still expect the longer mid body will not allow good contact between the nut, washer, and cone.

I've never had a problem finding gaskets. Although mine currently in use and back stock are from Toyota using part numbers.

My dealership folks would get confused cause they always ask for my VIN for confirmation and then see I'm asking for 4x4 parts on a 2wd VIN, Taco parts for a 4runner, 2uz engine parts on a 5vz engine VIN, and Landcruiser parts for a 4Runner. Luckily they've stopped asking and just give me the parts based on the part numbers I give them.

Yotamasters emailed me back saying they will fit

I emailed them back asking for OAL and lengths of each threaded section and the mid-body of the studs. At $4.85 a piece with washers it's a good deal but I'd rather not have to cut 12 of them.

@G_Raw, if you have a correct stud loose, can you provide the same measurements for me, please?

Fine I'll do your homework...

Obviously only thing missing from this "complete parts needed to swap" list is studs, washers, and cone washers for obvious reasons stated above. I've taken the liberty of making the text red for the gaskets you're in need of for the hubs.

*Outer Seal #90312-95001 - (Need 2)
*Inner Seal #90316-69001 - (Need 2)
*Snap Ring for bearing #90521-99114 -(Need 2)
*Bearing Nut #43521-35010 - (Need 2)
*Hub body gasket #43422-60060 - (Need 2)
*Hub cover gasket #43531-60010 - (Need 2)

*Wheel Bearings #90369-54002 - (Need 2)
*Wheel Hub Assembly: #43502-35160 They are pricey so it's best to find them from a used set of Tacoma knuckles.
*Aisin Free Wheel Hubs FHT-019 - (these are equivalent to OEM) - (Need 2)
*Tacoma Manual Hub CV axles in case you weren't able to source some used Tacoma axles for this projects. #434300401084 Again, it's better to find them used because they are very pricey. Or use Napa lifetime warranty replacements - (Need 2)

Sorry don't have time right now cause I'm leaving on a camping trip. I can on Monday when I return if you haven't got your answer. Although I'd like to refer you back to my original post when I said:

I even named Yotamasters for you as a a company that would tell you they fit. Their studs specifically state FJ40/60/80 Minitrucks/4runners to 1995. That is when the Tacoma came on the market with the new setup. They are not correct size and will give you the hassles of using landcruiser hardware I mentioned previously.

But I'm just a man whose done the conversion on two different rigs...not a person who works for a world renowned off-road Yota building and racing shop...

You can double down and verify with Zipp now that you got his contact. I'm the Luke to his Yoda on these setups.

I'll cut your food anytime... Just know it's one bite for you two for me haha. You get things squared away? You still need studs or other goodies? Where you at with things? I can censor myself if needed...depending on beer/whiskey intake.
