I was going to take the 395. Way more scenic, less traffic, and on the off chance I put on tube doors it'll cool off once I get to mono lake.
Sweet. Just plan on swinging by Mammoth. We'll all head up at the same time. It looks like about 4 hours from Mammoth to the trailhead.
I think you guys should plan to hang out and fish for a few days. Hahah.
If we do we can always hit Niagara Rim on the way home. Or anything else that you guys know of.
Should be open after this fucking heat wave. Good god. It's cooler at home in Anaheim.
Welcome to Bishop. The up side is you can be at 10000' in less then a 15 miles drive. If you then hike for 5 miles you can be at 13900'. lol

Yeah, there's that and slickrock trail we could do on the off chance we finish really quickly.
I'm looking forward to that tomorrow. I was watching lightning strikes off the mountain range 20 miles from bishop driving up.
I camped in coyoye flats 10000' during a lightning storm. Crazy AF

There's a lot of snow above 9k still too, peaks have a ton it's crazy. You would think it would cool the air down more as it comes off the mountains.
Not at all. A very good rule of thumb is 5 degrees cooler for every 1000 feet of elevation gain. That rule is almost always accurate.

The higher peaks will have snow well into August this year. End of June is when they normally melt out. It was a huge February.
pretty nice to see especially with how bad it was last year. Was surprised to see a few streams still going in Idyllwild last weekend.
