Texas is a big bitch. That's almost 7 hours away from me

I guess I should post something here since I already went in neck deep with a tank swap question
I'm in western Maryland, do most of my wheeling down in VA or lately up at Rausch Creek. Planning a Imogene/BBP/Moab trip in the fall to see how much shit I can break and still limp 30 hours home.
Re-geared some junkyard diffs to 4.88's last year and did the elocker swap, complete with retrofitting a non-locked axle housing which sucked. My welding is terrible but nothing has broken yet, and I threw together a big 3/16" skid for the drivetrain that's saved my ass more than once. Currently gathering parts for a manual hub swap and tank relocation. Maybe lock the front before Moab, I dunno how badly I hate myself yet. Still my daily until I can afford something to tow it with.
Out at Potts Mountain in VA:

I know I'll be able to get into a lot more shit with a locked front, which is kind of what I'm after, don't mind carrying a couple axles for insurance. I was going down the road of manual hubs because I was looking at going cheap with a Spartan, but now I'm kind of thinking if I'm going to go for it I may as well buy the farm and do an ARB (I need a decent compressor anyway). I looked at the Harrop for a hot minute as wellYou stumbled onto the right site to fall down the rabbit hole. Front lockers are fucking amazing to have, I'd say do it. I was helping a dude that lost his 4wd (front manual hubs wouldn't engage) up some steep loose shit a couple days ago. rear locker alone couldn't do it due to traction, locked the front and pulled him right up. Always amazes me what that little extra traction can help you do. Loose shit, boom good. Rock crawling, boom good. There's a risk/reward with every mod and I typically carry 2 extra cv axles when wheeling because of it.

Yeah with this still being my DD I have to take it relatively easy out in the shit. Trying to make it as capable as possible without killing it on the road. It's too bad I happen to have one of the years that it's more difficult to do cool stuff like dual cases. I have dreams of a full on truggy build with an old Tacoma or earlier pickup but that's some years down the line.I did all this shit because I blew up my rear end and went full retard putting things back together. I love having the lockers. I love being able to get into stuff I wouldn't normally be able to get into. At the same time I broke a bunch of other shit along the way and now I don't care too much to do the things I was doing because my rig was always down. At this point it's about keeping my rig running enough to be able to explore and get past stuff the usual person wouldn't be able to. Eventually I'd like a dedicated crawler for rocks, but I know my 4runner is more than capable of some crazy shit if I need it to be.

Not as full retard as you though.
Texas full of steers and queers but the steers stay out of the spotlightI thought everyone went to the same hoe down or whatever

sooo want dual boxes. too bad marlin is impossible. might get stupid with two clocked atlas because it's only money. It's not difficult at all. You just rip out the POS Multi-Mode case and put a standard J-shift in. Bolts and adapter patterns are the same.
