They took $5k in cash on a Friday, and told the guy he didn't need a receipt, and filed for bankruptcy on Monday. Fuck both of them. Last I heard, they fled to Texas.I'll jump in on this. That warehouse sure doesnt look like a company that was hording money to screw others. Looks like a lot of product that just couldnt be delivered because of no money left over for shipping.
I also have it on good authority that all the product in the warehouse was labeled with the buyers names hoping that by some miracle of bankruptcy court that it could make it to its rightful owner. But the reality is that bankruptcy court does not care about the customer who paid, it only cares about the companies and creditors get theirs first.
I was always treated well by the Pelfreys and if they started making stuff i needed for my truck again I would buy from them...probably without putting money up front but I believe they didnt do this with the intent of screwing people over. I believe they just got in so deep that they were in complete denial right up until the point that there was no money left to run the company. But that is just my opinion...those that got screwed certainly will differ with me. Flame away if you must but just to let it be known I dont really care about you or your feelings on this.
I like their product but I don’t understand how they couldn’t make good on delivery. They could have just put the word out that they can’t make ends meet and give people a chance to grab what they could before they files . Also I don’t know how it all works and maybe they couldn’t either way I feel bad for everyone who lost money
This was the third time one of them filed bankruptcy. No fucks given about them hereShipping costs were paid for but they were using the money elsewhwere to keep the company afloat hoping that other money would just appear to ship the current items. I'm just guessing here, but in desperate times people don't make the most rational decisions. Truth be told do you really think people want to run their small business into the ground just to walk away with thousands??? Maybe if you could walk away with millions never to be seen again but that is just not the case here. 5k is a lot of money to you and me but in the business world that isn't shit. Some very poor business decisions were made by the Pelfreys and many people got screwed because of it....and whether you care or not the Pelfreys got screwed also....just so happens they did it to themselves.
You are welcome to post a link from this thread over there, but we aren’t necessarily trying to directly recruit members from other forums on their own platforms. If you want to post a link over there, then that’s totally fine by meThe biggest tragedy out of this is that they are asking for a forum where this can be discussed without being attacked by admins, and you guys are not siphoning new memebers to here.
Actually it was the 2nd one for both of them. And their first as a business. Their first ones were when they didn’t even know each other. Tyler’s was in the early 2000’s and consisted of medical bills from a motorcycle accident when he had no medical coverage. Satin’s came from an abusive marriage/divorce where the dude left her in debt and broke. No excuses but this falls under “the more you know” category. This was the third time one of them filed bankruptcy. No fucks given about them here
I'm gonna say my bit, partly because I'm still a little butt-hurt. I got my money back from the bank, so there's really no reason for it, other than I just can't believe how fucking irresponsible the whole thing was and how much people still step up to defend the Pelfreys.
I don't care if you build an excellent product, or hold the door for old ladies, take in homeless donkeys, or nurse sick sewer rats. The end justifies the means. These people couldn't run a successful business, and there was plenty of time to suspend operations, re-group, and get yourself back on a strong financial footing. You're telling me the writing wasn't on the wall? They didn't know they were in trouble before shit went sideways? It's super fucked that they would take money from anyone if they thought there was even a shred of doubt that they could deliver. I dropped my deposit exactly 7 days before they declared bankruptcy. That shit is downright criminal in my book.
Hell yes. I still think their product was top-notch and would have mad the trip. I think that having the option to pick up would have gone a long way... Like saying "Hey we're in trouble but still want to honor our commitments." Might have even saved the company.I'd be willing to bet at least some of those parts sitting on the floor were for local guys. Or there were orders for local guys. Before declaring bankruptcy they could have easily asked people to pick up to save shipping. Would have screwed some that had their orders in sooner but it could have alleviated some of the pain. I'm sure you would have driven out here if they told you they fucked up and couldn't afford to ship.
Bla bla bla. Who is down to rent a uhaul and make a road trip and go in to business with some bumpers that fell out of the back of the wearhouse?
