Anyone have experience with REM polished and /or cryo'ed gears?

I think the polishing is supposed to help with heat, which I doubt you are having issues with after break in.
Cryo helps make the surface harder so it has a longer life. If you are breaking ring and pinions from hard hits, I don’t think this will help much. If you are blowing out gears due to wear this could help.
At least that is my understanding of it, which is why trophy trucks need both of these. High load, high heat, for long periods of time.

I actually read a rather lengthy paper detailing testing done on some mild carbon steel after deep cryo treatment. I understood little of it but the results seem promising.
Not needing break in after REM is promising as I really fucking hate that whole procedure. Definitely do not want to go through that again.
Seems that cryo can harden the gears without increased loss of ductility which can help keep teeth breaking from shock loads.
It is a low enough price point to do both that I will probably do it as an experiment to see if the rear axle can handle 37s with the abuse that I give it.

Mine are back from cryo and being polished now. That means they’re indestructible now, right?

Right?….

I don't know if you got your name from a game called worms but in reference of your name I would think that your gears are not indestructible. That holy hand grenade really tears shit up in the game

You had a good education

I dunno about a good education, but I definitely had a good senior year of high school. Throw the auto shop teacher a 12 pack of coke (the soda you hoodlums) and he didn't give two fucks what we did as long as we were learning from him. Turns out piston rings are sharp (I still have that scar 25 years later) coolant sucks to get all over you (my teacher knew we were stoned and liked to fuck with us, wasn't me), and Monty Python is awesome.
