I got one for the Tacoma. Need a new antenna base for the 4runner. The tape or whatever on the bottom of the magnet tore so the mounting bolts/nuts are rusted as fuck and affecting my receiving range. Had major issues hearing @Airdog when he got more than a 1/2 mile ahead of me.
I might get one for the tundra. Good to have when heading out to the desert towing the rigs.
Those BTECHs are nice. I eventually would like to get one. If I remember right, they have a 4x band unit?

Anyways, Danny if your RX is poor, then be really careful with TX!!! You are likely having VSWR issues you don't know about until you put a meter on it. If you have that mod day, I'll bring my radio equipment and look at you VSWR. If you have a high VSWR and then TX'ing, you're frying your amp output "finals"!!!

But yeah, let me know if you have that mod day and I can also pay for my F***ED-UP Hoodie the same day!!!:rofl::rofl::doh:

Well no returning it now. Mod is done and packaged back in the box :deadbanana:
That's a nice radio! With 65W output, you definitely have some good range going.

Shits rusted. It transmits fine.

Looks like that link is a dud now.
Is this basically the same radio you bought?

Pretty damn close and it comes with the antenna so the better deal.
Amazon is starting to crackdown on radios that do not comply with FCC rules/regulations, which most of the radios do no not.

Plus, you will have to start to input FCC information that you are "authorized" to purchase such equipment.

I'm still learning more about this as I just recently saw a YT video about this AND I've been hearing rumors that this was going to start to happen.

Anyways, that maybe why the link is dead and more will likely come.

I got the Yaesu FT-2980 and had the local radio store drill a hole and run the cable for me.
I dislike mag mounts.
