Damn it, I just knew I should have STFU and let experienced guys talk. But since I already started, might as well continue....

If that's your only spacer, then definitely leave it alone and don't listen to me!

^ That being said... I found couple of pics from my last rebuild, and after closer inspection, there definitely are some differences between mine and Itaro's shocks.

Here... You really have to get past the missing spacer (one i pointed out in post above) that was removed during previous rebuild . It was a misguided idea to remove it, and I'm glad I didn't rip apart my CV axles due to shocks over extending. It was reinstalled during this service.
And other difference is seal cap. Mine has a "top out" rubber on it, and my shocks do not have that black washer that Itaro's have. Not sure what's up with that. Thus, as mentioned above, I really should keep my silly thoughts to myself.

Edit. My shocks are
F 25001-119 A Ext
R 25001-121A Ext

Cool thanks for the feedback. I think his are just older kings so they made some changes along the way.

Nah I didn’t think the original pic was as clear as can be so I clarified which shock was which. I appreciate the feedback/info

One of the benefits from living close to KING. Couldn’t get this apart
3CCB8A04-178B-492A-879B-15C83438921A.jpeg
They even used their tools and no luck. Guess it’s cross threaded or boogered

So I bought replacement parts. E2F503F3-F7BD-4D45-939A-E563944589A7.jpeg

Lucked out because that top piece and shock body have been updated. My resi hose isn’t compatible with the new part but they had an old one sitting around. The new shock body has less threads and wouldn’t match the other side. Count this as a win

I have zero knowledge on this stuff forgive me it would seem the big boy company have it all under wraps, but where dies the higher level Bilstein stuff fit in to equation, aside from not being customisable/rebuildable, is the 6112/8100+ worth running over the long stretch?

Lol, the more blue anodizing you have the faster your truck goes. Every overlander knows that!

Bilstein makes some really good stuff actually. The higher end 8125 and 9200’s have some solid technology behind them.
The 6112’s seem like nicer/bigger 5100’s so not really sure if they are a good longer term solution considering they have a higher cost of entry by a fair margin from what I remember.

I keep checking the ADS IG page….still no podium finishes at KoH. Maybe they can make a ADS only class so they can finally compete.

You know the races haven't actually started yet besides the desert race last weekend right?:gossip:

Saw all sorts of rigs running ADS during qualifying. Saw quite a few running kings flip over too. :flipoff:

I like how people think a brand of shocks makes podium finishes rather than, suspension design, chassis design, shock tuning, driver skill, etc.

I'm not married to ADS. I'd run any brand as long as there is quality, support and decent lead times. King has great support but terrible lead times. Fox is right behind King in terms of terrible lead times. I wasn't willing to wait 8-12 months for a set of bypass shocks when ADS has the same or similar quality as the other top brands. I'm a fan of ADS for being good quality, much better lead times by a fair margin, and good support. That's why I chose that route. Honestly, I wanted Fox but they weren't going to get the parts I wanted in a timeline that I was comfortable with.

Don't take it personally, these guys bash on me all the time for shits and giggles. I'll be running these king bypasses shortly, and if they weren't such a good deal for all the parts I probably would have gone ADS secondaries just to match, but whatever.

Yup, In our group text Danny will go to his grave defending why ADS is better… when the truth is no one gives a fuck but it’s too easy to get his ADS PTSD goin….very similar to his Kasnerd PTSD. Just play along Steven. It’s very entertaining.

Aside from the coating differences, I don't think I've ever said why they're better, but to each their own.

I buy what’s in stock. The powdercoat blue not matching the anodize blue not matching the blue hoses makes me have a seizure every time I look at the wife’s minivan. But hey it boogies ok, still haven’t pulled them to revalve from the king cushy street valving they build them with.

The 6112’s felt as good as my kings until they blew out. For the money I’d recommend 6112 and rear fox 2.0 combo allllll day assuming you don’t drive like full potato every chance you get (that’s me, full baked potato)
