Plus I have to work. There's not enough signal out there to tether my laptop.

Speaking of work.

I got a call today from a local contractor that I have a huge amount of respect for. He was looking for a crew lead and I was who he though of. Dude's old school and knows all the tricks. Even some I don't. You know, the kind of boss you could actually learn shit from.

Anyway, we set up a time to meet at his place. I get there and we start BS'ing about life, covid, idiots. You know, the usual. He's got two sets of plans laid out on his drafting table so we start to go over the projects. One's a large remodel/addition and the other's a huge 5600 sq/ft new build. Plus, he mentions about 10 other "small" jobs he's got lined up starting in the spring.

Once we're into really looking at the plans I realize it's a test. After about 30 minutes of going over details and bitching about structural engineers being idiots it's pretty obvious we both know our shit. Test fucking aced.

Then we start talking about my old boss. I heard rumors that my old boss learned how to frame from my potential new boss. Turns out those rumors are mainly true. Also turns out that my new boss isn't fond of my old bosses work ethic. Seems shit hasn't changed with him in 20 years. We both have a good laugh at his expense. Fuck that guy.

After that I agree to take the position with him. Then we agree on a start date. It's fucking perfect. April. After the snow melts and it warms up. Before I can even ask about pay scale he throws it out there. It's a 10% pay raise from my previous employer as starting pay. Fuck yeah.

So, I go back to work in April for a guy that I respect and who respects me for more money then I was making. Sometimes life doesn't suck. lol

Dude nice. I ended up about 15% higher than the last job even though I only asked for like 8% more. It's crazy how life has a way of rewarding you sometimes.

Thanks man.

I've been super busy and not checking any threads other then the stock thread on here. What ever happened with you job interview?

no updates on the one from last week.
job posting was removed but my status on their candidates page still shows my app is “under consideration”.

recruiter has been a bit unresponsive ever since she initially reached out to me so I’m not stressing.
I may call tomorrow to see if I can reach anyone.
