Mountain bike bite back?

That's @AssBurns on the mountain bike.

I slipped in the garage when it was raining and didn't think it was that bad. By Friday I was in urgent care because it swelled up about 3x the size and the pain was excruciating. Still pretty swollen today but it's gone down quite a bit. If the swelling isn't gone by Weds I have to get an MRI done to see if I damaged the ligaments. Right foot, can't drive, can't vehicle prep, definitely won't be able to hike around in the dirt at Koh.

Yeah sucks because I already paid for my tickets. Got an ultrasound this morning to check for blood clots. Crazy because it didn't even hurt for 2 days, then it wasn't even bad, and then boom I was fucked.
Feel better soon, on the flip side are the tickets transferable :anon:
Should I even bother buying a ticket?

Find out if they're transferable and I'll sell them to you at a discount. It's been a week and a half and my foot still has swelling so I'll probably have to get an MRI to check the ligaments. Even if it's fine I'm still probably looking at 4 weeks until it's 100% and I'm not risking fucking it up in the dirt. Kinda need my right foot intact hah.

My timing belt left the chat on my way home from work yesterday. I knew it needed to be done but had put it off because I’m looking at getting a new DD soon and figured it would get done when I did some other deferred maintenance all at once (like valve cover gaskets, plugs/ wires, and a good throttle body and IAC cleaning). Looks like I gambled and lost on that one.

I just passed 400k miles last month, so hopefully a new timing belt will get this truck to half a million miles eventually.

Doh. Hopefully it didn't do any other damage.

The 5vz-fe is non interference so I should be good. I’m not excited about doing the timing belt but having a competent shop do it is about 4-5 times as much as parts alone will cost to do it myself plus the tow to a shop, so I guess I’m taking the leap and adding it to my repertoire.

Yep, good luck. I'll have to do my water pump eventually and probably do the belt at the same time even if I don't need it. Better to do it when everything is apart than take it apart twice.

Damn. Sorry to hear that.
I was chasing a coolant leak last week that I suspected was a leaking pump so I ordered the Aircabinman kit and was planning on doing the whole shebang

Turned out to be a loose nut on the thermostat housing, so it was an easy fix.

I was ready to tackle the WP/TB job and bought all the tools to hold the damper, cam wheels and pull seals. After watching Tim's video, it's just time intensive, especially if you're gonna tackle the top end too.

Good luck!

Yeah the Aircabinman seller has been the go-to for a long time so I was looking at his eBay page the other day. “Seller is away on vacation” so I couldn’t purchase it. Even though I’d prefer to handle the rest of my maintenance items all at once, I’ll have to put those off a little longer. It will just take too much time to do it all at once, and I need the truck back on the road asap. I’m expecting the TB & WP job to take me a whole weekend as it is. I take my time with jobs like this that can go wrong if you’re not careful.

It's not that bad. I don't have a v6, but I changed the head on my 2rz. Does make everything happy again to clean out the intake. Truck felt great after that refresh.
