I’ve been struggling with my catalyst monitor not cooperating for a couple months now. Tried a rear o2 sensor because for most people that’s the issue (at nearly 400k I’d say it was a justified $50 cost anyways).

Moved on to checking for exhaust leaks before throwing money at an aftermarket cat, and last weekend used a shop vac on reverse with soapy water and found out I had 2 exhaust leaks. One at the front A/F sensor gasket, and one at the bank 1 header flange at the y pipe. All 3 flange bolts were tight, but that sumumabitch was visibly warped just on one side and bubbling after a spray of the soapy water confirmed it. I took care of it same day with a Napa gasket for the A/F sensor, and some Permatex (the 2000 degree rating one for mufflers).

I put 175 miles or so on the odo driving to and from work this week and finally today the monitor was ready so I left work and went straight to get it smogged. No drama with getting my cert, so that was a nice break. What a circus dealing with emissions issues!

Finally have to smog my 2013.

Didn't realize Magnuson wasn't shipping the CARB sticker for the S/C back when I bought it.
Called them up on Monday talked to someone then no calls back.
Left several messages and nothing.
I finally got ahold of someone and found out the person had to go out on an emergency family leave but they are the only ones who could help me.
The person is supposed to be back on Tuesday.

Stupid fucking sticker and stupid fucking CA.
Magnuson clearly has the EO number on the website.

I had to get one of those EO stickers in February for smog that was due in March for a K&N FIPK intake, and they sent it out on their dime and I had it in my hand in 2 days. Their customer service is excellent. Of course I had to privide my vin#, copy of my registration, and a photo of it installed on my truck just to get it sent to me. It sucks that aftermarket products that require them aren’t sold with them and you have to jump through hoops just to obtain one to pass smog.

Think Im going to put together a resume and look at work in Arizona or Texas. Done with California. Way too expensive to live here. Cant buy a house within a 100 miles of LA where all my works at.Even if i found something I could barely afford it and probably wouldnt be happy. To rent a decent apartment is 2k or more. I make decent money and have no clue how people lower can even live here.

If you would have listened to me, you would have a house with a fuck ton of equity and a low monthly payment...

It's called section 8 housing. Tell me why there is section 8 housing in Rancho Palos Verdes. Freeloaders are living in a better location than I am...
