That will be fun to explore all the changes to the washes.

I tend to avoid ocotillo and anza..
I know there is a lot of dirt and rocks. Just giving all the overlanders shit.

Mojave is a fun as fuck honestly. There's a ton of history out there and lots of places I haven't explored yet. If anything I'm glad the roads have washed out because it prevents people from getting there easily. The overlanders in general have ruined California deserts and mountains and it's a real pisser. To the point I don't even go up to big bear anymore.

If Mojave weren't so far away I'd make a trip out to roam around.

My first trip we did 4 days and 3 nights and it was amazing just cruising around checking shit out. We didn't have enough fuel collectively to keep screwing around or else we would have seen more. There's cabins out there that I haven't even come close to finding yet. I'm betting they're on the south side since the majority stay on the road itself for the tourist spots. With the main roads washed out, it might be time to go explore some shit we haven't been to yet.

"Ruined" physically? Or ruined because "those people" are out there where you want to be alone? I'm still trying to sort out all the overlander hate around here. No disrespect intended.

I'd hoped that was the case (not that overcrowding is great). Glad to hear that trail/environmental damage is not as much a concern.

Social media has also made off-field, back country aviation interests similarly popular.

With overcrowding comes trail and environmental damage. Trails created because they can't make an obstacle. Rock stacking annoys me, if you can't make it you shouldn't be there to begin with. It's a fucking race daily to make camp because all the prime spots have been blasted on social media. Trash left behind everywhere.

I won't even go to the local mountains anymore because there's no trail etiquette. People bombing around blind corners in the middle of the roads. It's dangerous. I almost destroyed a SxS and a guy on a dirt bike in the same day. Dude on the dirt bike came within a foot of my front bumper before he came to stop.

Okay, that's a different story altogether. Then yes, I can see where that's a concern. Rock stacking doesn't bother me. Trash, absolutely does. Trail safety and etiquette, yes again.

Rock stacking is the worst. Some of the shit i saw in Moab was crazy. Removed a ton of the rocks in Calico last time i was there. Waterfalls were turned into ramps. Really wouldnt bother me if it was just put back how it was after people are done.

Off season, night, remote, less popular areas I usually like to adventure to. I can't stand the inexperienced SXS crowd. You don't need to know much to get in and go.

The trash has been around for a while. These last few years it has been busy in our local OHV. The high gas prices did help with making local desert trips more enjoyable. I had all of ocotillo wells to myself in April and May

And all the fucking articles written about how this area is a hidden gem or that place is a must. Those articles drive me fucking nuts! I read one the other day about the hidden gem of a lake in Arizona..... it's fools hollow lake and literally 5 min walk from my door. It's already always packed to the point I can't even drive in with my kayaks or paddle boards. The internet is giving these idiots all the spots and ruining everything. I wish I could once find a journalist at these spots and beat the living fuck out of them! Well maybe just destroy their laptop and cameras. People need to learn to just do the research and get out to explore a area and find these places without being giving directions. Rant over

Mojave road got slammed. Guess we won't be running that this winter. The first picture looks like the uphill after leaving the fort. Second section still looks doable with a 4wd though.

Edit: confirmed the first washout is the uphill section past the fort. Comments had a few offroad groups saying they may go and fix it.

When are you thinking you would do a run out there, if you do? Haven’t been yet

Can’t wait to hit ocotillo again, may be interested in a night run

Depends on road conditions. Will have to keep an eye on the reports once desert season starts. I'll keep you in mind though.

Too bad it's hot as shit in DV. Sounds like all the back roads into the tourist areas are still doable, with no tourists able to access the park.
