Firstly I really like the SPC Upper Control Arms compared to uniball uppers. These have more misalignment, sealed & greasable, and they are easy to dial in your alignment. They are also quiet and low maintenance.

So I’ve finally ran into my first issue with them. The rubber bushings wore out on the outside ends of the mounting points, giving it room for for the UCA to basically slide on the pivot point. So I’m thinking to myself now “what should I do?”. I’m sure SPC will help me out with the warranty side of things, but I don’t want to have this happen again. I’m thinking maybe just make some 3/16” washers to slide in there to keep it from ever moving again.

Thoughts?

Hmmm, I’ll have to take some measurements and get back to you. That’s much better than mild steel.

Im running a pair of SPC's myself. I can get my dimensions from my truck for the design.

Mild steel is a no go. after a few trail runs the mild steel will wear, squeak and generally shit the bed...

I can make our bushing out of a rubber that is just slightly firmer that the SPC rubber bushings to see if we get better life out of it.

You thinking whole new bushings or just the outer edges like a large washer?

How old are your SPC arms? When I bought mine in june they came with steel washers that go on either side of the bushing so this cant happen. Been working fine for 5 thousand miles. Ill grab some pictures later

They don't fit with the TC double shear coil bucket gussets. The UCA just barely squeezes in there.

oh ok, that explains it. Its tough to tell in the pictures but to me it seems like you could run just one of the steel washers and that would fix the issue

The bushings themselves are actually sliding off of the inner sleeve. I could drill out the washers ID to be the same the OD of the inner sleeve, since the washers are made to slide on the bolt, not the sleeve. I'd think a hard plastic or rubber washer might do the trick with this.

I’m guessing you had some nice gaps to fill when you welded the TC gussets? :ohsnap::rofl:

- naw trimmed the sides/bottoms (and had to clamp them to make them meet the tower - was surprised)

So what's the consensus, will the TC gussets work properly with SPC uppers if mocked up and installed with the full width of the SPC's and washers in mind or?

Are you running a TC spindle gusset? I am on mine and without running the ball joint in the furthest out position the gusset contacts my coil bucket and chunks it up. Just curious if there's a way around it because as of now I have to fix my alignment issues with the lower cams to maintain clearance up top

I think most of us trim one or the other to clear (I notched my tower - see photo above)
