Holy shit. That is not exactly what one could call a cost effective solution. Much easier to use longer stock.

Hell I even do that with framing lumber. If I need 15'-10" for rafters, I order 18s. Shit is always checked on the ends
Super gluing a couple of sticks to the side of a board isn’t cost effective? What did I miss?

Depends on what material you are using. Super expensive finish grade or stock that is not replaceable, bookmatched for instance, that youtube technique would be appropriate. Most of the time you are cutting the choice sections of wood to use to avoid defects anyways, so leaving a little extra on to counter snipe is a better method. Also, if that piece that you add on fails, getting it zero'd out again is time consuming and costly.

Labor ALWAYS costs more than material.
Except that one time I made some stairs from river recovered heart pine. That material was insanely costly.

If you are planing down some lumberyard purchased s4s figured maple that cost you way too much and your labor is valued at $0.00 , then worry about snipe.
Otherwise learn some rules. Always longer. Always extra. Always waste.

Side note I just cut up and burned some oak treads that were left overs from a circular stair I built a decade or so ago. Guess I need to learn to stop hoarding.

Yep. As soon as I get a delivery of any framing lumber I send one or two of the rookies to the pile with a square and a saw. They cut 3" off one end and crown them. While doing this they re-stack so all the crowns are facing the same direction.

So a mechanic from work recommended the milfuckee 1/4 ratchet and Santa brought one. So I’ve been “working” with it and I’m impressed, I wouldn’t do any 1/2” stuff, easily do most 3/8. It’s small and spin quick for those spot a hex impact don’t like to be in. I’m of the mind that really stuck shit shouldn’t be attempted with small impacts, so it’s the 1/2 impact for bigenstuck . But most of what I need is to save my body from the plumb wore out from constantly using fasteners

Wendy doesn't really wheel much anymore.
But I think she is going with me in Friday.

I keep any scrap bits bigger than my little finger to fuel my biolite stove on trips. Sometimes I have to cut up bigger pieces but it works out really well.

I have some CLC stuff I'm pretty happy with. The bucket boss looks pretty to be pretty decent quality also.

Thanks.

I like the way your truck is coming along.

I have one of the bucket boss rolls. I like it so far, feels well built.

I like to miss the bone and take out tendons. Angle grinder won this battle.
