That's a nice fence. Looks like a clone of my Powermatic fence.

It very likely is a clone of a Bies, as I look at it. Perhaps both are.

And for 480CAD vs 530USD, I can't complain.

I'd look at a CraftEX as well, but they're in store only, and the nearest store is 6 hours away.
The king is available 90 minutes from me, in stock. No brainer.

I've got some railing stock I milled up a while back that is beginning to twist a fair bit.
Mirandas parents would like it if I could get it installed at their house to replace the godawful black metal one they have from the 80s.

I *think* it's cherry, and I'd like to straighten it out.

How fucked am I?

I would say pretty fucked, but I have way more experience bending wood than straightening.
It would be an interesting experiment to steam it and try to get the twist out.
You could also get some clamps on it to over twist it the opposite way and do a light soak of water on it and hopefully it springs back straight after it dries.
Steaming would likely be more effective as it plasticizes the wood fibers making them more flexible.
All depends on your free time really.

Don't currently have the ability to steam. I'll look into it. The shoe rail is just bowed, that's easy.

But I think the hand rail has a fair bit of twist. I'll double check.

Still not perfect, but for 100 bucks, it's much better. Fits tight and the new key works well. I'm happy.
Machinist recommended a VFD on the tablesaw to allow for soft starting. The aluminum pulley can't handle the instant starts.

So I'll get one of those. If the pulley wears again, I'll go to a steel V belt pulley. As it is, it's a weird 7 or 8 rib belt that I know I'll never get again in the event of it snapping.

This weekend’s antique sale score. Was thinking about building a bench like this. Totally saved me a bunch of money and time. The drafting table was a total bonus.

My Friday score wasn't as good. That's a nice piece of equipment, that is.

I snagged a Hilti TE50 AVR for 200 bucks. Serial number unregistered, sold in 2017, not reported stolen. So I even have a clean conscience.

Wee bit dirty and I'll need a TE handle, but when they're 1300 new. . . And this one works. . .

Just had a meeting regarding 2 home builds in town.

I've got the footings, foundation, framing, shingling, exterior, and interior finishing on both.
2 4plexes next year if these 2 work out.
Not generaling them, so that's a little shitty that I won't make that markup, but, it's a good start.

Indeed. Depending upon final pricing, I might be able to pay off half my house this year.

And with a giant depression looming if the US defaults because of a pack of assholes, that's a comforting thought.
