New wheels and tires (3 tires courtesy of @Itaro). Just waiting for the hub caps to come in.

Next is removing the lift and installing the airbags.

I've been towing my moms old 29.5' trailer that weighs around 7200lbs and this thing tows it great even without a weight distribution hitch. The long wheelbase makes towing so much more comfortable than the 5.5' & 6.5' bed trucks I've towed with in the past. Trans temps are staying low due to the large stock trans cooler. Power wise it does great as long as I don't want to drive up grades at 70+ mph. I just let it find its sweet spot and let it do its thing between 50-65mph.
Gas mileage sucks, but if I'm only driving it when towing the mileage doesn't bother me all too much.

If anyone wants some 8 lug wheels and some tires for cheap, let me know. 2x tires are in good shape, 2x are pretty much done.

Well then those tires saw dirt, snow, mud...
Death Valley twice, Mojave and JT a few times, Grand Canyon, monache meadows and Baker creek twice.

Not to mention big bear and whatever random trips I’ve forgotten

Congrats on the new rig @AssBurns

This thread is revived so I figured I'd update on my Duramax.

I've done mostly maintenance on it since buying it. I did have to put in a new transfer case because I had a case of the pump rub exploding my T-case on a trip down to Baja. Thankfully happened on the way home in Utah!

I put a built one in from Merchant Automotive, new exhaust, coolant hoses, batteries, airbags, intercooler tubes, lift pump, and a few other odds and ends over the last couple of years.

I fabricated a new front bumper setup that can house a winch which I actually just had show up today, as well as a custom flatbed.

I also got big into old truck bed campers. Love the older FourWheel Campers.

This thing tows great, it's not the fastest or most powerful but it gets the job done every time.

Flatbeds are 10/10 awesome as long as you have straps with you! I plan on making some side to pop into stake pockets.

Next on the list is some 35's because we got a shop truck and I no longer have to tow super heavy for long periods. P.S. the new 6.7 with the 10 speed is a DREAM. Excited to see how it holds up and glad it has a warranty.

Finally pulled the trigger on a race trailer. My wife has been hounding me to buy something that the family can stay in when out at the desert. She’s over tent camping (especially in the cold).
It’s 28’ long and setup with a shower, shitter, hot water heater, solar, AC and heat. Has some cabinets and counter space along with a toolbox and winch. It’s a little heavy for my truck but it tows super nice compared to the other trailer I’ve been pulling with similar weight. Curious to see how it tows when fully loaded. It weighs 8260lbs almost empty. There is some stuff in there and a little bit of water but it was mostly empty when I weighed it last night.

Looks, awesome dude! The biggest thing you'll notice with the enclosed is wind resistance. Weather will play a big role on your mileage when towing that trailer. Towing the racecar with the no slide-in camper on a 4,800lbs deck over I get better mileage than towing an empty 20ft enclosed that weights 5,000 pounds if there is any head/side wind.

Yeah I fully expect gas mileage to be absolute garbage (especially with the big 8.1L gasser motor). I am estimating the cost to be about $1/mile while towing loaded down. Hopefully it's better than that but if I set the expectation, I'll be happy with the results if they are better.

I notice the gas mileage when towing my dads pontoon boat back from Iowa. On the way there we averaged almost 18mpg on the way out there. On the way back it was about 7mpg. The boat and trailer wasn't more than 4,000lbs but it had tons of wind resistance.
