Whose bought a new truck lately? I’m looking at a 2019-2020 f250 xlt with the 6.7 diesel. I got them down to 48k before tax and interest today (they wanted 6 percent as the “lowest” ford offers for the interest rate) but walked away. Interested to hear what people are paying.

you can talk to your local credit union if you are looking for a better rate. You usually have to put at least 10% down. I got my car in November for 2% 4 years.

have you considered the new gas 7.3? Cheaper to buy. Cheaper to maintain.

I have a 17 with the 6.7. It’s bonkers. Even with the 35’s. But those 7.3’s are tempting. And a 10 speed

I just drove out to Salt Lake City to pick up this 2006 LBZ Duramax. Pretty stocked on the find, it's a clean truck with under 200k and it drives awesome. Stocked to have a second vehicle and one that can tow around the runner or the racecar when needed. I have been using it as a daily as well which is really nice.

6.7 was great for the race team i was on. we ran 3 and all were abused for years with no issues. had full height chase boxes with around 2k lbs and never had any problems. the 6.0 was a beast but unreliable. the 7.3 diesel was whatever. slow as hell and even though the motor was great everything else was a pile of shit.

i wouldnt get a gassed 3/4 ton though. there are enough rebates and shit that if your spending over 45k for a truck it may as well be a decently outfitted 4x4 diesel. credit union will get you below 6% for sure. i had SHIT credit last year and got my used tundra at 5%. check out the dodge too. ive heard they have the best rebates right now and the newer ones are NICE

I know I can get below 6% but to get the rebates you have to do the initial finance through ford. First considered a gasser but I want a pop up slide in camper in the bed and to be able to tow my tacoma. The gasser is rated to do it but the diesel will be more comfortable. It’s crazy what trucks cost.

it’s between dodge and ford and I like the ford more but it may just be out of my price range. I’ll go look at dodges next.

If you run a pop up and a trailer you might want to check the gvwr on the 250 diesel. It’s the lowest rated one iirc. Go 350 imo. Sure it’s a dumb difference (extra leaf spring) but assholes are assholes about weight ratings.
Dodge interiors are soooo sick.

Bed capacity is about 2k lbs. towing weight is about 17500. More than enough for anything I will have. Heck my single cab Dodge Ram 1500 with a short bed towes my 18 ft trailer with my tacoma just fine. Diesel and length of the new truck will be a night and day difference.

So I think I’m pretty set on ford. Grew up with them and think they just look good. Found one in salt lake on Carmax for 39k. Everything I want. 6.7. xlt. Manual hubs, 4wd etc. now to decide if I need it now

Do it. I’ve got blown icon 2.0’s you can have if you wanna rebuild them. They rode great till the seals gave out.

Get a pre approval from the credit union, do the 6% financing to get the rebates, go back to the credit union and get your check, back to the dealer and pay it off so they don't make a fucking penny in interest. Basically what I did on my first motorcycle. I had to get their finance to get the best price, turned around and paid it off with a check from the credit union a week later for a much better rate.

Just make sure they don't have any shady early payment penalties.

Well the guy bailed on me earlier today to show the truck. He confirmed that he was available 30 minutes after the time we were supposed to meet, even though I texted him 4 hours prior...
Well he said we can meet tomorrow morning. Hoping it works out since I really don't like vehicle shopping.

This truck is a 2002 GMC 2500HD with the 8.1L Vortec "big block" backed with the Allison Transmission. It's got some miles on it, but these are known to last a while and tow well. Just shitty MPG. Considering it is something I'll only drive a few times a month, I think this is a great solution for the next year or two until I am comfortable spending the big bucks on a diesel.

So I did a thing.
needs a little bit of work such as; remove the lift, new front tires (probably going to look for all new OEM replacement wheels and tires), fix the fuel gauge, fix drivers side windows.

Now I gotta decide if I’m going to keep or sell the tundra.
