A lot of what I've read on these is "why bother" from people who already have e-lockers, BUT I don't have one and am strongly considering picking up an old 4.30 third member e-lockers and instead of messing with wiring harnesses this sounds like a reasonable alternative. But where does the lever go?!?!
Next to the center console?

This. I love that it is a "mechanical" e-locker that allows this option. I would never say that this thing is the end all be all for rear locker options/hard core wheeling, I just really enjoy how it works, its an interesting little piece of machinery, and a fun conversion for the older pickups like mine. Also helps you make friends on the trail when you meet someone else who can complain about theirs not working right all the time lol.
eLockers are not known to be strong. They are actually weaker than a standard Toyota 8", because the bearings are smaller on the eLocker side and allows more give under load resulting in more broken R&P's than the standard 8". At least that's what I've been told by a few people after I've broken 3 R&P's ends on my eLocker 8".

I'm kinda curious how the new 8.75 is going to work out in the long run.

I know this, and it's why I'm currently on 6th maybe even 7th gear set just on my taco. Also, the 8" has a bearing truss which also help prevent deflection and the pinion stub is much larger.

The truss is only on the Tacoma, Tundra, T-100 8.4' (Still an 8" ring gear but the .4 helps differentiate the two)

Anybody have a part # for the studs that that hold the 3rd member on? And are they the same on the 8.4?
Please don’t ask why I need one

More E-locker fun -- My motor has been having a problem turning when I hit the switch after it sits for any small amount of time. When it gets locked up, I have to pull it out and use a pliers to turn the gear back and forth to work it loose and then it will work via the switch for the day. Took it a part and theres considerable rust buildup from water getting in there. Seal must have been broken in the past, or it simply has been accumulating moisture from the breather over the years. Questions are: what solvent would you use to soak the whole thing in, in order to eat up the rust and be safe on the motor components? And, would you fill it or put something in it once clean to help protect that from happening again? (along with resealing it of course).

Reviving this post…

was pulling my e locker diff and was BFHing the shit out of it and broke the connector on the housing itself like a dumbass. Anyone have a part number? Ive been looking and I guess I’m the only one this careless?

Sounds like something I'd do. I'm the known hammer man.

Aren't you supposed to remove the connector and push the locker to locked before removing the 3rd? Not sure what you were trying to do. You have a 3rd gen runner right?

Yeah I locked it with a screwdriver and was trying to break the old seal loose while banging around and smacked the shit out of it. Pins are good but snap connector was destroyed. I might have found the part on a deep T4R.org thread but haven’t confirmed. Axle is off the truck. Planning on swapping it in next week. Doing some rust prevention and prep work and making sure the diff gears are in good shape before I go through the hassle of swapping on the axle. Wiring is all done

Dead blow next time and stay away from important components haha. I always smack my pinion flange up and down when trying to break the seal if it won't let go, but I've probably replaced the rtv 7 times in the last 4 years due to various stupidity.
