Hi all,
So I'm making this thread focused more towards the basic off-road beginner type who is looking for quick general information to links, pictures, etc. when they're doing their research on the matter.

I believe it coincides with: https://www.independentoffroading.com/index.php?threads/lockers-pros-and-cons-of-each-type.137/ pretty well, but this thread is meant for both general information and maybe a mixture of this thread and the link above from @AssBurns :noidea:, which btw is a hella cool dude, but watch your surroundings as this guy is F'N NINJA STATUS when creeping up on you... even in broad daylight he is hidden??? :eek::peep::rofl::rofl::rofl:

NOTE: if anyone has a link or information to share, please feel more than welcomed to do so and I will copy/paste the link in the first few posts so things don't get too buried!!!

My own research on the matter, I'm eventually wanting to put a basic LSD in the rear end. I don't want a full locker setup as my type of wheeling is on the more subtle side of things compared to the more hardcore group of guys here. As of current, I have open diff and I must say it can be pretty damn annoying at times!!! Even on your basic fireroads in certain situations just going up a small dirt/soft sand area. :doh::help: I'm already starting to save for the Detroit Truetrac LSD as I have my mind already made up on what I want to get. I needed to know information about whatever stock differential my truck came with?

NOTE: Now, keep in mind, obviously, if a truck has already been modified, then the information here may or may not apply!!!

So with that said, I will start off with the first link from LCEngineering as they have really good basic information about rear differentials for Toyota Tacomas.

Finally, regarding stock wheel information, I just recently bought some steelies and I had a hell of a time finding even the most basic information on what wheel sizes and such that came with what year Tacoma as well as other information about the wheels themselves (i.e. I needed to know hub size, your basic wheel offset, etc, etc, etc)???

I will start posting links as I add to this thread. The third post will be dedicated for future add-on information if the first and second post get a bit too large?

Best tip for a noisy Toyota rear diff (or most any make/model)?

Turn up the radio....heyo!

I'm looking into regearing and doing a front locker. Be happy to leave my thoughts and missteps so the rest of us don't do the same. Good thread to have.

So, here is my axle code information from the door jam as well as the transmission code. I know nothing has been done to my truck other than what I have done to it. So, I know it is a "stock build".

I'm still in the process of gathering information as I build up on this thread and hope it helps some of the newer guys that are just starting to get into off-roading.

So anyways, here is an example of what my rear diff is:
B = 8in
03 = 4.10 gearing
A = 2 pinion, open diff
