hey guys, before I start cutting, I want to make sure I'm making room for future growth if needed - so I'm asking for wheel & tire data from you guys running 35s and 37s - can I get wheel width, offset, and tire size; and whether or not you run spacers, please?

I want to make this a one & done sort of thing. :)

But 37x12.5x17 Falken MT’s
Method Double Standards 17x8.5 4.5” BS
0.75” Spacers from Bora

Previously ran
315/75/16 MTR’s
Landcruiser Wheels 16x8 4.5” BS
0.75” Spacers from Bora

37’s rub frame rail way less than MTR’s because the Falkens are very skinny for a 12.5

I’m running a spacer because the 315 MTR’s rubbed the spindle, but I think the 37’s wouldn’t. Haven’t tried

thanks man, appreciated.

I'm going to mount a stylus on a steel wheel and use it to transcribe the appropriate arc to the firewall & inner layers, I think; so being able to put this tire dimension and offset data into cad to determine the length & position of the stylus is really helpful.

37x12.50x17 Patagonia MT mounted on ATX Chamber Pro II wheels with 4.06 backspace. I run a 1.25" spacer in front to help keep the tires from rubbing the frame (mostly)

I wanted 8", but I have a set of 37 BFG AT mounted on Level 8 MK6 wheels that I will swap on for highway miles. They are 17x8 with a 4.1" BS. The ATX wheels were the only ones I could find with the same BS

I just did 35s this weekend and have them mounted on a Pro Comp 97. It is 17x9 with 3.5 backspacing. No spacers.

315/75R16, stock 7" wide 5 stars, 1.25" spacers. No idea what the backspacing is on these wheels.

Ok, found some time to get started on this last weekend. Keep in mind I selected my coilovers specifically to give me more up travel and am going to run less of a suspension lift to keep the axles level at ride height - my goal is to have as close to 50/50 uptravel/downtravel as possible. I’ve raised the body one inch to help with a flat belly and it certainly helps here as well. @Plastics Guy is working with me on shorter bump stops to get me the additional uptravel you see here.

I’m cutting in with a 285/70/17 on an 8 inch wheel with 0 offset/4.5” BS.

you can see that I'm using the top of the factory wheel well as my upper limit - which is fine, since the SPC upper ball joint is nearing its travel limit in the first photo above.

However, I need to go wider on the sides:

one issue I've run into is that I'm rubbing the framerail at full steering lock - which I don't want - so I've ordered spacers (which I also did not want, but CV life trumps that preference.) The spacers should arrive tomorrow, and I'll see how they affect the rough cuts.

another note - I'm running the SPC upper in its neutral position at the moment, not certain where my cams are.

I'm hoping to clear enough for 35s at this extreme upward position, and possibly 37s with a factory-height bumpstop (the tire would be lower) - not sure if that's going to happen, though.

Hey Keith. So how did this all turn out? I'll be tackling this project in the next 2 weeks or so. Trying to track down every shred of information possible between now and then. Found a few good write up's along the way (Coastal blog and Assburns). Worst case scenario I'll learn as I go with a cut off wheel in my hand. Just prefer to go in as prepared as possible. Thanks.

Get in line. He swears he'll never do it again but if he does I've got first dibs.

Yeah sheet metal work is definitely not my favorite thing to do. I am not currently offering any openings for firewall tubbing. I gotta fix my own shit first haha :violin:

Nothing will prepare you for this. Just start cutting and keep cutting. When you think you cut enough cut some more. Then get out the biggest hammer you have in the garage and keep going. Eventually you'll be able to cycle everything without rubbing. lol

Then start welding shit together. This is where I figured out I really suck at welding and call in a big favor to @AssBurns and had him finish the rears for me. lol

Also beat the shit out of your front inner fender with a BFH. Like the biggest one you own. After I was done my airbox wouldn't fit back into the factory mounts and my battery box had a gangster lean. Good times.

Congrats your now done. Go wheel. That's when you realize even with all the fucking work you just did you still rub every so often. lol

And if you don’t own a big hammer, go get one.
