I’m looking at the JD2 model 32 bender, and will need a 1.5” tube die. I’ve been reading up on the different clr for the dues and it seems like 4.5-6.5 are commonly used but I’m not sure which one to get. I’m thinking the 180 degree is the way to go since it’s more versatile than the 90, but which clr would you get if you were to only have one? It seems like the 4.5” has a slightly higher tube min thickness requirement, but anything auto related will probably be .095” or thicker anyways. Just worried that it might link on some of the tighter bends. 5.5 or 6.5 seems like a better option. Thoughts?

Nope. This is what happens when you use a bad set of words as a thread title. There's only one person to blame here. You can ask @4runner DOA to clean it. Then it would be more like TW. Except he won't. lol
IDGAF about cleaning it up at this point, it’s entertaining to me as well but to be fair, I changed the thread title after a couple posts. The rest are just shit posting

Maybe this will help? The video concentrates on rulebooks for an organization you're building a machine toward, but may provide enough info otherwise.

Edit: I'm a YT commando. I've never bent anything in my life. Just know what I've watched other people talk about sometimes. :)

I think I have 5.5" radius. I don't see much of a need to get a tighter radius for majority of the stuff I do.
The 1.75" die I borrow from my buddy is 6.5" and that seems good for the thicker diameter tubes. I'd probably stick with 5.5-6.5 range unless you need a tighter bend radius form something.
I don't think there is a wrong answer here.

That’s the main question, is the 4.5” used or desired enough to steer me that direction. It sounds like the answer is no. I may end up with a smaller die or two down the road, but the 1.5” will get used the most for now.

I use a 1.75 x 6.5" for my truck. Made a roll cage just fine with it. You'd probably like the look of 5.5 the best for 1.5

Honestly a cage was not even in the equation being that this is my DD, but maybe down the road when I have a different vehicle for a DD it’ll be a realistic project to tackle. I think the 5.5” will be fine.

the smaller the clr the more likely the tube is to kink when being bent/hit. all of my dies for roll cage DOM sizes are 5.5-6.5 range, fwiw.
