I deal with this a lot in my line of work. People think that because they have no debt, that getting credit will be easy, but in reality it makes things harder. If there is no history of credit usage, then what do we have to go off of to know how responsible you are with payments? If you want to build your credit quick, get at least 1 credit card and use it at least once a month for something small (ie; buy yourself lunch once a month, or fill your tank once a month) then pay the card in full when the bill comes in. Keep the balances low and easy to pay off so there isn't ever any interest to pay. I've had multiple folks do this for 6 months and increase their scores well over 50 points. Shit, even just having a credit card for a month can improve your scores by 20+ points in the right circumstance.

If credit age is the issue, then open a credit account ASAP to start building your credit age. Typically lenders want to see at least 3 open accounts and at least 1 year of credit history on at least 1 of those accounts.

I’ve had several credit cards for a few years now, never missed a payment and tried for the most part to not carry a balance. My score is 791/784. Both banks sited my lack of loans on my history was what was killing me. Such a bummer cause I even planned on pulling one out last year for a washer dryer, but ended up just paying cash. Realy sucks, but lesson learned

I ended up taking out a $5000 personal loan when we bought my wife the 09 4Runner. I didn't need to but knew it would further help my already excellent credit. Basically I'll end up paying $400ish in interest to get a higher score. My scores already pretty high but I like perfection. lol

I have that money sitting in my savings and the loan can be payed back in full at anytime. It's a weird feeling for me since, other then my house, all my debt is payed if full at the end of each month. I still might pay it off early but I might not. lol

I see a lot of successful people that can easily pay cash for things, but still get loans to keep their usable cash available. Having that cash available is more important in my opinion. Sure you have some interest to pay, but if shit happened, what is more important? A Free & Clear $10,000 vehicle or $5k in the bank and a $5k loan? I'll take $5k in the bank any day. Like you said, you can always pay it off in full. Or you can keep that $5k for whatever the hell you want.

Dude. Go to a big dealer. They will get you into a 4wd, and you'll build credit history. Sure, it'll cost a little more but credit history will be the least of your issues. It'll be the dealers trying to sell you everything you don't need.

It’s been a while dudes. Planning on camping this coming weekend 15th-17th. Thinking mt graham to turkey creek. If anyone is interested hit me up

would that mean we would hit Mt. Graham and then come back down the Mt. to make our way to turkey creek?
