Our mortars were used a lot in afghan and they got use the big boy ones a lot. But they were MAP in Iraq also.

At 9.5 years, I'd had enough. Couldn't wait for that extra .5 to lapse. Similar toxicity (or maybe it was me). So many people: "Oh, hey! You're half way there! You could retire and live the dream!" Yeah, no. I'm living the dream now. :)

But if I'd have gotten the USS Nimitz as I'd requested, I'd probably have been in for 20. Don't know if there's a difference between east coast and west coast Army, but there certainly is in the Navy.

i love Arizona, hate my present duty assignment. Just put in for a request to Virginia. I dunno we will see. Probably 2-3 months before I find out.

there was a difference in east/west marine corps. I’m so glad I was only in Jacksonville NC for just infantry school. I hated that place so much, I would have did drugs or something stupid just to get kicked out of there.

Going to the Marine Corps Ball and getting pissed drunk with my gunny and pissing off the 14th floor then going to a strip club with him and my SSgt made me appreciate the Marine Corps birthday. Then picking my blues up from the cleaners and finding a few hundred bucks in an envelope safety pinned to the trousers made my week.
