That would be a great starter machine on flux core and swap to solid wire and add the bottle & regulator when you can afford to. This one may already come with a new regulator too, not sure.
thats exactly what i did before getting the 260. hoping this one lasts until i die.

I also run a weldpak140 with gas and solid wire. It does most things I need at home and with mig setup it welds pretty enough. I will use the weldpak 180 at the shop for anything 1/4" and thicker...which isn't often.

A little staino practice. Working on weld profile and HAZ. Meh.

After a few cocktails decided to try box cutter blades again.
4 years of experience with TIG and I still suck. Guess I need to live with the fact that I am at the limit of my ability.

After years of woulda, coulda, shoulda, I’m not pussydicking around anymore and getting a welder. Decided to set myself up for success and got some 220v set up in the garage.

Gonna be picking up either a Hobart Handler 190 or a (braces for hate) Vulcan 215 MigMax. I’m open to other suggestions in the $700-$1000 range, just settled on these 2 after an afternoon of surfing the web.

Gotta wait for the next payday for the machine purchase though, fucking backyard is getting landscaped right now and sucking my fun money.

I'm not any sort of welder by any means. I have an Everlast Mig that seems to be pretty good. @Arcticelf has an Everlast multi process welder iirc

I have steered a few friends to Everlast for a good MIG. Haven't heard any complaints.
I have had my Vulcan TIg for over 4 years now without issue and my Vulcan Mig for almost 2 also with no issues.

I can't comment on Vulcan, but I'd steer away from Hobart.

I'm very happy with both of the Everlast machines I've had, starting with the smallest 220/110 TIG only machine they make, now I've got a larger multi-process machine. Both punch far above their weight class in terms of features and quality; comparable to a Miller that costs 4 or 5 times more.

I’ve looked at the Everlast Imig 200 too, looks like a lot of bang for the buck. Out of curiosity, why steer clear of Hobart?

I'm unimpressed with the quality of the welds and the machine doesn't have the adjustment capability to get it working better. If you just needed a cheep flux-core machine to weld dumpsters than it's fine. But if you want to get better at welding or work on anything nice it wouldn't be my choice.

One negative is it’s a tapped voltage machine. It has small jumps between voltage settings so the only adjustment is in the wire speed. This is the main difference between hobbyist Hobart and Miller machines.

Lincoln has different product lines that are the same as the difference between Hobart/ Miller products. Some models are tapped, and other offerings are variable. Weld-Pak are tapped, and Power Mig models are variable.
