I’m gonna have to go to the dark side and say to make that thing a bagged mini truck. Either that, or a +6” over LT with a linked read end on paddles. Take it out to the dunes and launch it into outer space lol

I had a buddy that made his single cab a bagged mini with a competition sound system. Was a tight little truck, but I've never been one for slammed trucks. I feel funny driving my Jetta because it's so low to the ground.

I may or may not have had a lowered ‘96 S-10 extra cab when I was 19 :anon: It was a fun little truck except for the attention it drew with cops and low life’s breaking into it for the car audio on a couple occasions.

Before I turned 21 I got rid of it for my first Yota that was a’94 reg cab with LT front and a rear hoop and Fox shocks all around. That thing was so much fun out in Ocotillo, that’s why this 5 lug would be cool to leave 2wd and build it for a go fast truck.

How can you deny the awesomeness off ttb? I’m definitely biased towards all Toyota but once you get to a certain level of performance and money your willing to drop its no limits imo. For example does Toyota make 1 ton axles for crawler/ buggy applications? Nope

Centermount 4WD is WAY more expensive! TTB is super easy and cheap in comparison, plus it still has a ton of travel for legit jumping your shit.

I thought the premise was if keeping the 5 lug and doing beams or LT it’d stay 2WD. Is TTB and 4WD doable? I guess since everything’s got be custom mounts, it is a lot cheaper than center mount for sure!

Check this out. This dude has a reg cab 4x4 frame for $100 and is headed down to SoCal in April. This would be a cheap way to convert that 5 lug! Swap the body and engine over and you already have some of the drivetrain stuff to make it happen. This might actually be the most practical way to do it.

Doing TTB isn't all that much more work than just doing I-beams. Either way you gotta make almost the same brackets. TTB just needs a T-case, trans, and driveshafts made.

I'll try to talk to him some more about what his realistic goals are. If he want's to crawl only, then SAS. If he want's to have a little go-fast desert truck LT. If he want's to do a little bit of everything, then TTB.

Ttb and links are awesome on a Toyota. Nothing wrong with old Ford parts. Ttb and Ford 9" rear. I need to whore myself out.

So what does a used TTB setup cost? Obviously the mounts and everything is custom made but is it practical to find spares and do trail repairs on axles? I can see the travel numbers and strength being a big draw. They’re off old 80’s and 90’s Broncos and F-150’s?

I’d say it’s close to on par with a SAS. Axles are probably $300 -$500. I was able to find a roller chassis for $300 last year. They have a lot of similar costs involved like steering, suspension, driveshaft, fab work. Maybe a little more on Steering costs, and maybe a little lest in axle costs.
