Nah, there are better ways to do it without going through the roof. I'd rather attach it to the spoiler somehow while keeping it low profile and looking clean. I'll come up with something.

Just get a roof rack for this one, it'll free up space for a fridge. :peep:

Hard pass!
A fridge will just take the room that the ice chest is taking. No lost space there.
Lol. I never use my rack. But if i had kids and as much stuff as you guys need it would be packed.
My thoughts are if it doesn't fit in the 4runner then we don't need to bring it. Keeps the weight down and less shit to deal with.

Meh only thing I bring extra when I bring the kid is the tent and cots and second sleeping bag. Otherwise I've slimmed down my camping gear to bare minimum. Most of my space is tools and spare parts.

I'm all about keeping it simple. There is always some room for creature comforts but I always enjoy myself more when I bring the basics only. Lots of beer, food, water, chair, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, pillow, and some tools. The kids basically double everything besides beer but then we bring a tent so it basically is double everything when they come.

I recently got one for the times I need to throw shit up top for trips with snowboards or camping chairs, firewood, gas can etc. Probably will only get used a handful of times a year but when you need it, it’s available for that.

Also eventually putting some dust lights on it too, which provides a nice spot for them. One of my old pre-Tacoma prerunners had a bed hoop that I put a KC amber light on, which is the perfect spot and 4Runners just don’t have that option. The swingout bumper I have yet to put on could be rigged for one I suppose but it would most likely have to be mounted lower than I prefer.

Firewood is the big one for me. I almost always have 2-3 bundles on my rack. Keeps the mess out.

@AssBurns I’ve had two setups that are simple and you might consider doing the same. The first was just getting two longer screws for the spoiler and putting those through my pod brackets, and then having the wiring just go through the hatch and forward from there. Or use that factory hole in the front of the rail that folks with light bars like to use. The second setup, which I’m currently running, just involved the right bolt to fit snugly in the factor rails and then putting the pod brackets through those bolts. Same deal with wiring. I’m unfamiliar with Baja/S2 brackets but I’m sure they’d work. I currently have some ExtremeLED Stackerz back there.

I like the idea of using the factory spoiler bolts to keep it a little more streamline and simple. I was kinda thinking about cutting some holes in the spoiler and recessing the Baja Designs S1 or S2 pods into there with some brackets. Might be more work than it's worth but could be a fun project.

That would be super rad. This is a cool idea too, no doubt you could replicate it for way cheaper (and better) with your fab skills. SRQ makes and sells the bracket.

Yeah that's kinda what I was thinking but incorporated into the spoiler rather than 3rd brake light. Appreciate the compliment on the fab skills, but I'm really nothing special. I'm still quite the amateur at things and always learning.

Looks like a good time. I have been dying to get down there but out of the dozen times I've tried to make plans, something always seems to come up. Do you go down there often?
It was my first trip. Ran it with expedition x offroad. Would recommend. He pre ran the course. So we knew how far to get each day. Where to get fuel and ice. Etc. I hate aimlessly driving so it was perfect for us. I know a lot of people wouldn’t want to pay for that but IMHO it was worth the cost. There were about 15 trucks.

No shit!? I didn't realize you went with the EXO group. My brother and I have been wanting to go on one of those trips for a long time. Seems like the cost is well worth it. Definitely on my bucket list of things to do. Looks like they have another run coming up soon too. Might have to look further into it.

yep he had a few spots open for the May run Last I checked. Rumor has it he’s planning one in sept to coincide with a race down there. It was a couple nights of camping and a couple nights in hotels. Really broke up the days of no showers and no toilets nicely.
The other 4runner on the trip was a bit slower but he was sagging hard. I’m guessing they didn’t swap springs to plan for the extra weight. Plus non resi shocks is no bueno on a 800 mile trip. We were in the front of the group mobbing with the raptors
