Got long travel? Post some info about it.

  • What kit do you have?
  • What suspension are you running?
  • Coilovers? Bypasses? Hydro Bumps? Etc.
  • What kind of wheeling do you do? (Not everyone is all about go-fast desert stuff)
  • What are your rigs limits that's holding you back from being faster or more capable?
  • Any other info you find suitable to share.
  • Pictures and videos!!

Let's what you guys got!

-Yes
-Yes
-3.5 over with stock tundra axles and 2.5 10" FOA coilovers and 2.0x2 bumps
-All the things but faster
-It's broken, but the rear suspension WAS holding it back and the front needed to be stiffer
-Had 9" of up travel and strapped around 5" of down travel. Rode really well being super low and wide and lots of droop available up front

Hi Everyone!
  • TTB Converted Jeep Grand Cherokee
  • 15 up front, 22 rear
  • Coilover, bypasses and bumps all the way around
  • Go fast. Mostly Ocotillo Wells / Anza. But we are looking to branch out. We want to run some longer overland trails in a single day.
  • Limited by a 5.2 and overall weight. Building a Jeep gets heavy

My truck is a 99 tacoma 5 lug.

Front: JD fab long travel kit
6" over per side
13" travel
10" king coilovers 500/500 dual rate springs 15 stack compression / 10 stack rebound One bleed screw open
fabtech 3" lift spindles
custom engine cage

Rear:
50t leaf pack
16" king smooth body outside the frame, all bleeds open, 15 stack compression, pulled 2 shims from a 8 stack rebound.
strapped at 17"
2004 tundra rear end, 68" wms to wms.

Steering rack, lack of nice bump stops, lower oem ball joint and cast spindles are my front weak point. Also wouldn't hurt to have more gussets
The rear could use triple bypass shocks if I want to go faster.

It's a pretty small truck so I don't need to go that fast to have fun.
Just my go out an play truck

My god! That is so fucking awesome! I've always wanted to do a TTB swap on the BeerRunner. The Filarski Bros XJ build has been my inspiration to do it for a long time, but I just can't seem to find the time or money to do it anytime soon.
Definitely post up in the Race Teams thread. We'd love to know more about this badass build.

Edit: Looks like you are ahead of me on that

Fine I’ll play

2008 trd sport 2wd
Front
Total Chaos 3.5 over kit (regular one not race)
8 in, king coilovers in black
Rear
DMZ SUA Kit
12 in. King triple bypass race shocks on shock hoops custom built by dmz as a prototype
King 2.5 shorty bumps
Pulling 13ish up front and 14 inches the rear

Wanted the truck this way without cutting the bed and keep it clean oem looking (I’m that kind of person)
Built to cruise around the desert not a race truck for any means (like the rest of the bros think they build lol)

If I ever do want to make it faster then engine swap with cage and might as well link the rear with new front kit probably solo Motorsports to pull more travel :anon: but it’s good for now

Frequent places I go to is barstow or Vegas Area desert/partial Mohave sometimes

Want to hit superstition and ocotillo this season and see how the truck does there

Thanks! We will start our own thread in the race section with more info. The Filarski jeep is a good build. We started the TTB swap about the same time and finished a little before they did.

01 Tundra 4x4
Camburg +3.5" LT
uses Camburg's CV extensions with OEM joints
icon custom length coilovers, no limit straps
spc jounce shock (1.5" stroke) as bumps
Fiberwerx 4" flair fenders
~12.5" travel with stock tie rod ends and unmolested CVs

rear is only mid travel: Deaver G57, shackle flip integrated into bumper, Icon 2.5 piggybacks, wheel spacers to hide the width discrepancy. ~11" travel

Built for rocks and fire roads. The mid travel rear was kept spring over to allow the whole truck to be shorter after the bob. Rear certainly slows it down, but that's for the better. I'm not a go fast guy. in the rocks the little tires and LWB are the primary shortcomings. the added width helps capability quite a bit. stock LBJ worried me but so far no trouble and they have plenty of motion.

frame is twisted, can't be aligned and Camburg doesn't make heimed uppers for this application.

Here’s my 2007 Tacoma PreRunner

Total Chaos +3.5 race kit, Icon coilovers, Maxtrac spindles, R1 Concepts brakes, Total Chaos alignment tabs and Total Chaos UCA double shear/coil bucket gussets.

Next suspension mod is going to be new front bump stops, either Timbren or Wheelers.

My rear isn’t in nearly as good of shape as the front, it’s leafs with an add a leaf, small blocks and Icon shocks.

I do mostly go fast stuff, but living in Central Texas it’s a little different. It’s all private land that’s set up like tracks, no public land to blaze a trail on.

One problem with long travel groupies is that everyone wants to compare money, companies and numbers. At the end of the day, if you drive a stock truck and still hoon it and have fun, that’s all that matters. However; a stock trucks capability ends before my fun begins

Also, if you feel it necessary to say something negative about my bumper. Save yourself the energy, I promise I’ve already heard it, and I promise I’m not changing the bumper based on some theoretical problem someone on a forum says it’s going to cause

So what’s your eventual plan for the rear? Sounds like that is your biggest hold up right now. Spring under eventually? I’m sure that’ll be a huge game changer. People tend to forget about the rear suspension of how much it effects performance.

I have thrown around the idea of Dirt Designs trailing arm 3 link, but I think I’m going to go with Camburgs bolt on spring under and probably 14” bypasses with archive hangers to keep my bed useful. I don’t want to cut holes in it and have stuff rolling out of it

Let's what you guys got!
Sup with dat ass brother! Missed ya man.

Im rocking a 2012 double cab taco. I got the standard 3.5 package, but this is the breakdown.

  • TC 3.5 Race
  • DMZ rear SUA with bedcage
  • king 8" coils up front
  • king 16" triples in rear
  • Locked off-road 2" hydro bumps in rear
I am going to be moving out to Scottsdale in less than three weeks! Currently live in Northern VA/DC area and besides trying to fly through rocky shit on trail, I havnt been able to push the set up like I would like. I prefer the desert driving and speed which hopefully will change soon.

I need to get my gussets welded on as well as my front bypasses that have just been collecting dust. I think once that's done I can really start to push it more. Im sure more reinforcement will always be in the works though.

@PermaBan ^ he stuffed 16s in there. Time to send the 14s back and step up your game.

Sad to say...isn't that the game of LT in general? The builds only grow and grow until people lose a house or spouse!

Mine are def through the bed though.

Oh he's been looking for an excuse to long travel his rig forever. He's gotta figure out how to talk the girl into letting him spend the cash on the front still.

Man you are gonna love it here in the southwest. Between AZ, CA, NV, UT, we have a fuck ton of high speed desert stuff for you to really put that LT to work. Get those bypasses on, and hit the trails.
I'll actually be moving out to AZ once my wife finishes school, which is still a couple years out. I'm hoping to spend more time out there in the meantime though. You should get that CV fixed and meet us in January for our Florence/ Table Mesa run.
