My wife wanted to get some Mormon Tea(Ephedra) so we took my rig up Silver Canyon. It has two gates. A lower one at about 5500' and an upper one at about 7000'. I fully expected the upper one to be closed. It wasn't. From that gate the road continues and hooks up with the top of the White Mountains. My wife had no interest in continuing so we gathered the plant and some rocks and headed home.

I happen to have tomorrow off. There's a blizzard warning starting tonight above 8000'. The top of the Whites is just under 10000'. Guess who's doing something stupid tomorrow? @Hank still working? lol

Damn. I wish I could have gone up this weekend. Don’t worry, I did 12 hours yesterday and 8 today. So after Tuesday I should have the rest of the week off..... HA!!!! I can only dream. Pretty jealous over here

I decided to go check out Black Canyon. About 20 miles of dirt in 2 hours. I was planning on going all the way up into the Whites but saw this at about 7500' and decided to call it a day.

I was parked for 30 seconds:

Turns out I also pulled another inner clamp on my RCV CV's. I can't really pinpoint where that leak in the photo came from but I'm hoping it was just a combo of fresh axle grease and snow. Being 10 miles in though I didn't want to chance it.

Here's some of the trail on the way up.

So, sometime this week I'll get the rig back in the garage. I'll reband the CV boots and take a closer look at the diff and seals. I need to look into getting some high angle CV boots because the ones RCV put on are a fucking joke. I'll hold off calling them till I calm down a bit. lol

It is. It's pretty mellow and is super low traffic. We should run it this summer and do some trail work. Last year I tried to link it to the top on the Whites via a very narrow side canyon. It is a trail but there was a tree down that prevented further progress. It'd be a fun weekend just to link back to White Mt Rd then head out Dead Horse Meadow and down Wyman Canyon.

Like I keep telling all you SoCal boys, there is a metric shit ton of seldom used trails with zero crowds here.

Wait are you or are you not SoCal? I forget which map we are going off of?

Yes! I do want to enjoy some weekends up there once the weather warms up. It’s just so hard lately with all the tentative plans that keep coming up every freaking weekend. Mix that with fixing broken shit, I am always busy. Pick a date and let’s plan it.

Pretty sure @theesotericone is in the Bishop area.

I would definitely be down for a trail clearing trip. Always fun to hit up uncharted territory.

I’ve never gone off-roading in that area either , so I’m pretty set on making it a trip.

@theesotericone I'm going to be at Mammoth lakes the first weekend of March for a bachelors party.

Know of any simple/quick trails out there that can be done in a 2-3 hr time frame ? Don't want anything too difficult mainly because I'll be the only person out there with a rig, so in this case, i just wanna minimize risks and still show some friends a good time.

Played on fireroads for a couple days. Actually locked the center diff once to pop out of a wash I thought would lead to camp. If the rear locker worked and I had skids I may have tried to squeeze over the rocks I ran into.
