Sounds like it’ll help quite a bit in the tight turns. I went wheeling with a friend from high school’s dad a couple years ago. He’s got an Atlas, cutting brakes, and line locks on his CJ on 39’s. He was playing around in some super gnarly notches and I was so amazed on what he could do with those cutting brakes and front digs. He would just lock a rear wheel and the front would just pull him wherever he was looking to go. Pretty amazing what lines he could take doing that.
Unfortunately I won’t have the front digs... still dual cases but at some point I want to go to an atlas which would be the ultimate thing. I’ve used the dual stick quite a bit. Be on a steep incline and need to scoot the rear over. Put it in 2 low and just let the rear walk over

*You don't have digs YET ;)

Atlas is definitely the end goal for me too. Either a 4speed Atlas if I keep the v6 or a 2 speed if I go with a V8 down the line. Having that 1.5:1 gear ratio would be fucking rad for 90% of the wheeling I do. Especially when I can do it in 2wd.

I just want a 2 speed with the 5:1. Rear case right now is 4.7 and I love it. But when I do that I’ll go to an aw4 transmission to eliminate buying an adapter

What vehicles did the AW4 come out of besides the Jeeps? or is that it? Are they reliable enough, and would it make sense to put that behind a 5vzfe with an adapter plate over a t-case adapter plate?

An aw4 came in most jeeps but it’s still an aisin transmission. The bell housing and torque converter and tail housing are all that’s different from an a340. They seem to hold up to decent power considering 4.0s in jeeps and supercharged/turbod 3.4 etc. aw4s are a dime a dozen around here and mines on its way out so I’ll get one for cheap and rebuild it then swap bell housing and tq and leave the tail section and bolt an atlas to it and it’ll bolt right to the motor.

Good info to know. I never knew they were similar transmissions. Good to know when I eventually do an Atlas (if I ever get there)

Was finally making progress till i dropped the axle on my foot today... Can barely walk... Nobody cares about that though.

Got the axle back from having the ends and brakes welded on. Also got the center console tube work done. Just need to make skins and and finish wiring the shifter. Feel like I'm making progress slowly but surely. 4 weeks till hump n bump in logandale.

Foot ended up being fine. Just badly bruised and was walking the next day. Fired the money cannon and ordered shafts and brake lines. Got the brake lines today and got them ran throughout the truck. Need a fitting to the master and finishing attatching the lines and securing them. List is getting smaller and smaller.

Got some more work done this morning before I ran out of welding gas. Got tired of messing with the limit straps (full articulation the shocks are a hair short) so burned them in where it looked good. Need some shorter straps still. Also burned in the resivor mounts. Hopefully that’s it for welding on the axle and frame and I can paint it this week. Also put some lipstick on it with some fancy body washers to cover the holes in the fenders. Tomorrow I hope to get the brake lines zip tied/ mounted and start running the shifter cable.

Shooting for a shake down run in 2 weeks before heading to Logandale for hump and bump. Getting things done. Wirings done. Going to run air lines tomorrow and hopefully start to get the axle painted. Center console is done minus cup holders and skins. It’s got a lot going on but hope skins will make it look better.

and hoping this is enough oil and brake fluid to fill everything but I doubt it... 123 dollars worth of crap.

You are going to need a operating manual on the dash for all those levers. Great work man.

That's half the fun. I've only got three sticks to worry about and there's been more then a few time I threw it in lo. Proceeded up trail a long ways and realized I never put the other stick into 4wd. lol
